The GIO (Goed Industrieel Ontwerp) Award 2009 is the only prize in originating from the Netherlands for industrial design projects.To receive the award a design must be more than aesthetically inspiring, it must fuse functionality, innovativeness, originality, and intelligent material choice.
The awards are equivalent to the American Idea Award the German Red Dot and iF awards. The yearly awards are organized by Designlink and is a much sought after award for design professionals and product developers.
