Commissioned by Hacousto Videotechniek and in cooperation with partner We Are Perspective, these security cameras were developed for the Dutch National Railway to give passengers a feeling of security without the impression of being spied upon.
Personal safety increasingly plays a more important role in public environments. The new security camera developed by Pezy has a friendly feel, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The design incorporates the concept of a friendly and watchful eye, letting passengers feel safe without the intrusive feeling of traditional security camera. Research showed the ‘Big Brother is watching’ feeling was reduced from 34% to 12%. This is achieved through the camera’s gentle and friendly character, alluding to human facial features.
In 2009 this product was awarded the prestigious GIO Award (Good Industrial Design). To receive the GIO award a design must be more than aesthetically inspiring, it must fuse functionality, innovativeness, originality, and intelligent material choice.
